Outside the classroom.

This doesn't have anything to do about teaching, but it happened at school. Before you read it, I must say. IF YOU LAUGH, I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!

Yesterday I was on playground duty, which just means that I have to do supervision on the playground during brake in case there's a fight or someone gets hurt. It's been raining almost non-stop since 2010 began,so everything is slippery and wet.I really don't know what happened. I was walking with my kids to class. I was in front.
We were walking the one moment, and the next, I was sitting on the floor, unable to breathe or move my legs. I really don't know what happened. All my kids were just staring at me saying "Sorry Ma'am, Sorry Ma'am". I couldn't move for about 2 minutes. I send the kids to class, and tried to get up. When I could, my legs were all wobbly. The deputy principle came to me (not knowing I had just fallen) to tell me about something I really did not know what. My one leg buckled underneath me, and she could see that something was wrong with me. She said that she will look after my class while I get a pain-killer. By then my back already felt a bit stiff.
When I got to the office, tears already made their way out (involuntary). I hate crying in front of other people. It always makes everything looks worse than it is.
The one lady gave me a Miprodol for the pain, and the other one smeared my back with 'Deapheat'. I was about to get back to class when my legs just buckled again, and I nearly fell again (one of the ladies caught me just in time). She then went to the principle and said that she is sending me home. (I didn't want to go, because I meanwhile found out that the deputy came to tell me that the other grade 4 teacher was leaving to take her daughter to the Doctor, so there wasn't enough people to look after my kids). The principle did not listen to my brave pleas to stay, he said that I must go before my back gets too sore to even drive. I didn't have a choice. I got my stuff and came home.
I must say, everyone working at my school is so great. They helped me so much and I even got a few phone calls afterwards from other teachers who had heard about the fall to see if I'm okay. I love working at my school. Everyone works together and supports one another.
Just so you know, I went to the Doctor and he said that if my legs don't get back to normal by Monday he will send me for x-rays. So 'till then, I will just sit on my (very black/purple/blue) backside and wait till all gets better.

  1. Hope you are feeling better and don't need those x-rays. Take care of yourself and get some rest.

    Hope your better real soon...
